BADGER is a fully computerized, in-situ scanning system that measures the efficacy of neutron absorbing materials like Boraflex. It offers the only quantitative technique for assaying spent fuel racks. Many utilities have committed to the NRC to perform periodic BADGER testing to verify the adequacy of neutron absorber materials and to confirm RACKLIFE calculations.
